  • Bug: Frame Buffer window disappears

We have this super critical bug, where, whenever I press render the frame buffer window is visible for like a second and then disappears. If I press the frame buffer window button again, a frame buffer window opens but without any rendering and the status just say "plugins finished loading". If I press render again, the same thing happens over.

I think it has something to do with our rhino file, since it doesn't happen in a new rhino window. The problem: I can't copy/paste stuff from one file to another, since you can't copy Cosmos assets and lights by the looks of it, only geometry and materials.

The same file also refuses to export as a vrscene file. You press it and simply nothing happens.

    What can we do?

ps: one bug I noticed that might be causing some of it: if you alt-drag a light in Rhino, it will be duplicated in Rhino, but not in the V-Ray assett editor. Then if you select the light in the assett editor and click "select in scene" it will basically select both lights in Rhino and think they are both the same light.

Has anyone had this bug? How can I fix our seemingly corrupted file?

    Hello, seltzdesign ,
We are aware of this issue, however, it has eluded us so far how to accurately reproduce it.
You can try to troubleshoot it by deleting the file %AppData%\Chaos Group\V-Ray for Rhinoceros\FrameBufferState.fbs

If you are able to reproduce the faulty behavior every time you open the specific scene you mentioned, could you please pack it (V-Ray > Pack Project) and send it over via https://www.chaosgroup.com/help/cont.../scene#options for investigation?

    Kind regards,
    Peter

Ah, I should add that it's not just the framebuffer window disappearing, there is also something really wrong with the z-index of the various v-ray windows. They like to suddenly appear behind Rhino, like if you press Save current channel from the Frame Buffer, the file dialog will always appear BEHIND Rhino, even though the frame buffer is on another screen, so surely the file dialog should appear in front of the frame buffer.

It seems like something has gotten a bit messed up there in the most recent version. Maybe it's related to the frame buffer window position.
