Just upgraded to vray 5. opening old files takes forever

Hi

I just upgraded from Rhino 6 and Vray 3.6 to Rhino 7 and Vray 5. I have problems opening some of my older files. Somes files takes forever to load, we are talking several hours so far. I suspect proxies to be the problem, because when I open old files without proxies, they load instantly. What can I do, because I don't have time to wait all day for the file to open. Right now there is a blue spinning wheel, and it says not responding in the top.
