  • Rendering looks different

    Hi,

Chaos clouds seems to render my scene different than my local PC. Seems reflection linking for example doesn't work and also it doesn't seem to take the light settings (for example affect diffuse, specular etc.) into account.
If the rendered output is different than the one on my local machine it's not really usable from my perspective Why is that?

    Best,
    Jonas

It looks already different when pressing the preview button before submitting the job btw. So if i render in my normal framebuffer and if I use the preview button generates 2 different pictures.

      Hi JonasNöll,

Can share with us the scene along with all the assets so we can investigate the discrepancy? You can create a support ticket via our system, and attach the scene file for us to review. Also, please don't forget to mention this thread or my name in the request.

Additionally, check this article that provides useful information on how to prevent discrepancies between 3ds Max and Chaos Cloud.

Hi Jonas, did you find how to fix that?

Hi, I haven't had the time to further look into it, I ended up rendering at another commercial renderfarm that didn't have those issues.
I used some light linking and reflection linking in my scene and those seemed to not be respected in Chaos Cloud for some reason. I reckon if you have a simpler scene it might be fine.

))), the same, every time I have problems here in ChaosCloud, they are asking to send the scene one more time (the one that is already uploaded in their Cloud).
And it is quicker to use another farm, losing the credits here though.

              Hi michael_medvedi ,

It's not a problem to refund you the credits but we need to have a look at the issue first. Can you please share a link to the faulty job and let me know what the issue is? If it's more convenient for you, you can do this in a direct message to me.

              Thanks,
              Vladie

Hi vladie , thank you for your reply.
Sure, here is the faulty job, it is a 71 frames animation. But instead of an animation, I've received 71 renders of the same first frame. Here is the link.

viktoria.dimitrova Sorry for the delayed response. I sent you a request through the support ticket system to demonstrate the issue

                      Hi,
in my case Chaos Cloud doesn't seem to respect Reflection Excludes. So if I exclude certain geometry from the reflection of other objects it is not respected.
Attached you can find an image to demonstrate the issue:

In your case are you possibly using special plugins to scatter all of those objects? It looks like you possibly use a special shader to randomize the color of each circle but maybe Chaos Cloud doesn't support the plugin you are using. Just an idea

JonasNöll To scatter is used Tyflow, and just one shader, from Vray Library, just simple gold metal shader.

And now that you've mentioned the Reflections Excludes not being respected by Chaos, I think that's exactly the problem that is causing this. Those settings are not respected while exporting the scene to ChaosCloud.

In my scene I have some lights that exclude objects, the main light affects the BG only, the second light excludes the BG, and affects only the reflection on the coins (Tyflow) only so on.

I just did a quick render, removing all those light settings, and the render is exactly as in Chaos Cloud.

You have nice tutorials btw., helped me a lot.

michael_medvedi Hey, and what is the result? Are the reflection excludes causing this issue?

Hi JonasNöll , yes, there seems to be an issue with the Lights, here are the issues found in the scene:
                              • A discrepancy in V-Ray Standalone (Chaos Cloud) with TyFlow and Light Exclude list. The V-Ray Light works in a reversed manner when has TyFlow included or excluded in its list. This is reported as VMAX-11660 in our internal bug tracking system.
                              • Another thing we found during the scene investigation, is that the TyFlow is not affected by the Global switches override when rendering V-Ray Standalone (bug ID: VMAX-11661).
                              • Also, there is a discrepancy with some of the lights in your scene. Did you import these lights from another scene, have you scaled them, or have you made any changes to them? Recreating these lights, produce different results in the light's intensity,
Attached is a test I did with exclude/include options.
