Material preview doesn't work after some time

Hi,

I don't know why, but after some time of use the material preview and the texture preview doesn't work. I need to restart Rhino. Is it a known issue or should I try to find a way to repeat it? But rendering to the frame buffer works.

Dear Micha, hello.

Thank you for pointing this out.
In the latest released version (5.20.02) a more detailed way to monitor the preview is implemented.
So, next time when it happens, please go to the new V-Ray Log Window and choose Filter Source Assets Preview Renderer and send us the information right away.
There the issue should appear.

It will be also written in the vray-neui.log (easily found from the About windows as you know). You could add it too.

Let's get this solved.

Today I got the problem again. It's a Rhino task which was open for a longer time - the error message date is from yesterday. If I remember me right an other Rhino task was crashed yesterday, so maybe it's not really a bug more a side effect. I found a solution - starting a second Rhino task will renew the license connection and the preview of the first task works again.

Exact the same errors I had 2 times, yesterday. It happened when I change asset preview device from CPU to GPU.
Quick solution was to change default render engine in rhino settings back and forth to Vray.

The work is in progress and we will contact you to test it and confirm.

pavol_pastork, please define are you experiencing it randomly.
We have detected why it is happening.
In most cases after restarting Rhino or the PC the preview should appear.

As Konstantin mentioned, we were under the impression there are no more outstanding asset preview issues.
If you are willing to spare some time to help us narrow down the cause of the issue, please provide the following info:

1. Does the issue occur only with a specific project or assets? If it is, please share one such file with us.
2. Is the issue reproducible only after waking your computer from hibernation?
3. Is the issue reproducible if you borrow your V-Ray license for offline use? (http://localhost:30304/#/borrow)
4. Once the problem occurs, please share with us your latest vray-neui log (located at C:\Users\Peter\AppData\Roaming\Chaos Group\V-Ray for Rhinoceros\vrayneui or accessible via V-Ray > Help > About > V-Ray Asset Editor Session Log).

Both I and my colleagues are ready to assist you with gathering the requested info or troubleshooting the issue via remote connection if you feel comfortable with this approach.

After some tests I have some more infos:

* I lost the preview and started a second Rhino task - there the preview works, but still not at the first task
* I started a stand-by state of the PC and rewoke the machine - the preview of the second task is still working
* I set the Rhino tasks in the background and let Chrome in the foreground -> stand-by -> rewoke -> the preview is gone at the second Rhino task too

So, the issue is not dependent from a specific opened Rhino scene. It's not a license issue since the preview works at a new Rhino task. The issue is related to the PC stand-by mode and that Rhino is in the background.

I sent the log files per support ticket #29856.
