  • Spherical mapping - Noise texture not mapping correctly

Hi, I've noticed that the noise texture isn't mapping correctly to an object when a spherical mapping channel is applied. It looks a lot more like surface mapping.

I've cross referenced it with a custom mapping channel that I've setup to mimic the spherical mapping where the noise texture applies as expected.

Renderings, screenshots and rhino file below.

    Hi,

Under the Noise texture settings - change the Type Texture placement to 3D object.

Let me know if that worked

Thanks slavcho.brusev I may have learned something today... I must admit I was not fully aware of the true 3D nature of these textures and how to use them in a 3D way... Thank you.

I'd say there's still a bug for anyone using the 2D (UV Channel) option and expecting it to match their 2D UV mapping from Rhino though. But I'm happy to work with the 3D (Object Space) option from now on.

        Hi paul-twoatsix,

Note that only the textures in the following set are 3D maps and will work with this placement type:
