  • Asset preview CPU vs GPU differences

Hi, I found that in asset preview, there is some differences.
    1. Texture in GPU previes is blurred (maybe mip-mapped).
    2. There is stronger reflection in GPU.

    Hey pavol_pastork

The wood texture seems to be baked I think, or it is using a lower resolution Mipmap. I will see what could be done about this
About the stronger reflections, this is expected to happen. The GPU engine produces brighter and cleaner results by default. V-Ray and V-Ray GPU are separate renderers, they will produce different results

        Hello, Pavol,
        Thank you for your observation!
The discrepancy between the CPU and GPU asset preview modes is based on a hardcoded limitation to the GPU texture size. It is currently set to 512p.
Note that this limit affects only the asset preview window and not any other render processes.

We will consider increasing the limit to 1024 or 2048. It will still suffice in providing an accurate asset preview without affecting performance too much.

As for the reflection discrepancy, it might be due to specific parameters such as glossiness, where different results might be expected, although not as pronounced. In any case, please share with us the .vrmat from your screenshot so I can advise further.

        Kind regards,
        Peter

          Hello Peter.Chaushev
increasing limit to 1024 or 2048 will be great, if it will not affect performance. Or it could be some setting in Asset editor to set it by users.
I send you .vrmat file of material.

            Hi Peter Chauchev

I would like too as pavol_ pastork for incresing the límit to 1024 to 2048.

Or if we can change the resolution by us could be Nice too.
I use a Lot the preview of the materials, so if we can see better resolution for the material editor this could be great.

            Nice observation pavol_pastork.

I hope we can see this improvement with vray gpu for sketchup. This can help a Lot to create a better materials.

And of course achieve a betters renders with vray gpu.

            Thanks
