  • Background Bleed Through?

Using VRay on Rhino 7. I keep getting some weird blocky forms coming through on this render. These are the light blue areas in the top left and top middle to the left of the center image. This is only occurring on the left side of the image. The foreground of the view is being cut by a clipping plane, perhaps this is causing issues?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello, Lukas,
Could you please check if disabling Adaptive lights fixes the issue? (the option is located in the right-side Settings panel under Render Parameters > Optimizations)
Alternatively, see if moving the clipping plane slightly towards/away the camera makes a difference.

If this does not resolve it, please send over your scene for investigation by using the V-Ray > Pack Project menu option and uploading the resulting archive file to https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new .
Be sure to fill in the following info in the message box:
    1. What version of V-Ray is used (V-Ray > Help > About)
    2. What render engine is used (CPU/CUDA/RTX?)
    3. A link to this forum thread.
    Kind regards,
    Peter

Hmm neither of those options seemed to change anything, additionally, it looks like it has gotten worse. It appears that some elements on the far wall are getting their silhouettes projected on to the clipping plane? I will try to upload an archive file shortly

additionally, I cannot pack the project, it keeps asking me to save the file which I do but then it keeps asking me to save.

Do you happen to be rendering at the time of packing? If you haven't sent your scene yet, you can work around the problem with packing the project by:
          1. opening V-Ray > File Path Editor
          2. selecting all files in the list and choosing the "Archive" option.
          3. Once the zip file is ready, simply include the .3dm project file within.
Additionally, please let us know if you have trouble packing only this particular project or this problem persists with any other projects you load.

          Kind regards,
          Peter

Hi Peter, no files show up in the path editor.

Huzzah! I believe I just figured it out. It looks like the clipping plane was given a materiality which I think was making it interact strangely with the renderer and what it was cutting through. I disabled the materials on the clipping planes and it appears to have solved the issue.

Disabling the clipper material altogether means that each intersected object will have its cut fill appear with its own material.
Happy to learn you've managed to solve the problem by yourself!

Regarding the Pack Project issue you encountered, if you feel comfortable with having a remote viewing session via TeamViewer with me and my colleagues, we can arrange one to assist you directly. Please let us of your decision by sending a message via https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and be sure to include a link to this forum thread.
