  • Grasshopper Proxy export results in many materials

I am trying to export a proxy in Grasshopper and then replace it in Revit.
When I export with grasshopper I end up with many number of materials in the Revit interface. If I export from Rhino the materials are only four (as expected). What am I doing wrong?

PS... I figured it out. The GEO input has to be joined mesh and everything is good!

    Dear dimitar_baldzhiev1, hello.

Thank you for sharing that everything is working fine now.
    Contact us again if needed.

Wishing you a pleasant end of summer - with V-Ray of course.

Ok this time I am unable to export a simple model as a vray proxy. There are not material slots in revit afterwards... What is the proper way to assign and verify that there will be a material slot assigned to the geometry? It is a simple object with only one material needed...

        Hi again,

We have encountered similar behavior before.
That's why we will appreciate to share exact V-Ray versions used for both applications.
        • V-Ray for Rhino (V-Ray > Help > About V-Ray)
        • V-Ray for Revit (V-Ray > Help > About)

I was able to reproduce it and will log it now in our system for further investigation.
And your answer will be added to the report too for extra clarity.

        Thanks for pointing this out!

          Rhino: Version 7 SR21 (7.21.22208.13001, 2022-07-27)
Vray for Rhino: 6.00.b1 (Installed it after I noticed that I have those problems with proxies with the latest Vray 5 for Rhino)
          Vray for Revit: 5.20.23 May 17 2022 / VrayCore: 5.20.24

Thank you for the details, Dimitar.

It is now logged with REVIT-4303 number in our bug tracking system, since the import of the same .vrmesh files is successful in V-Ray for Rhino.
It will be discussed with both dev teams and you will be notified by any progress.

              Hello dimitar_baldzhiev1,

We had an issue where the V-Ray Asset Editor in Revit fails to generate the proxy mesh material slots in case the mesh has a single material. While this issue has already been fixed, it hasn't entered a public build yet. So, the workaround is to use a proxy mesh with more than 1 materials. Please, try that workaround and let me know the result.

              Best,

The issue has been resolved in official builds too.
Please contact us again if you meet any strange behaviour when using V-Ray for any platform.

                Wishing you a wonderful week.
