  • Clipping artefacts in production mode but not by interactive rendering

    Hi,

I am trying to render a shaft in a socket. In IR mode (see region) it looks good, but in production mode I get artefacts. Attached my little test scene (Rhino8|VfR6).

What's the difference between production and IR and how can the artefacts be avoided in production mode.

    Best -
    Micha

I have thought about this a bit more and wonder why a hidden geometry, which is not needed in any way, should collide with the visible geometry? The cut away geometry is not needed for shadowing or reflection.

If V-Ray is not able to leave hidden geometry out of the game, then it would be very useful to be able to switch to using the Rhino rendermesh only.

      Hello, Micha,

Thank you for providing a test scene. Further investigation was made and the workaround that can be suggested is to disable the Embree option in the Asset Editor Settings > Rendering Parameters > Optimizations tab.

We strongly recommend not disabling this option in other circumstances, but to achieve the desired result, turn it off only in this case.

Additionally, the issue you described has already been logged in our bug-tracking system.

      Kind regards,
      Natali

Looks like there some options missing at VfR6. Here a screenshot from VfR5. Maybe they are accidentally removed.
