  • Swarm over VPN?

Hi, I am trying to run Swarm over VPN (long distance) but the two machines cannot see each other. I found this forum post (https://forums.chaos.com/forum/v-ray...-swarm-via-vpn) that stated that this should work. Our IT team took a look at it and doesn't see the issue, they also do not think that this should work. Is this supposed to work?

    Thank you for your question.
As my colleague said, Swarm DR rendering through VPN is not really useful, but in case you would like to try it,
please make sure to change the below config file:
In order for both machines to see each other, you will need to edit the following file with Admin rights and for example with Wordpad:
    "C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\Swarm 1.4\config.yaml"

You will need to change from ttl: 0, to ttl: 5

Then please save the file and restart the V-Ray Swarm service listed in the Services of your Windows machine.

In case, they still do not see each other, on the machines, you will need to make sure that only your submitting workstation is updated as the Master machine with the ip address:24267 here (http://localhost:24267/configuration):
    https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...tworkDiscovery
And in your 3D application under the Swarm rendering menu, you will need to mention again the same ip_address:24267 of the master machine, which should be your Workstation.

If the above instructions are not clear to you, we can make a remote session on your machines, so I can update them, and they can see each other.
In order to schedule a remote session, please open a ticket in our system, so we can further discuss the meeting.
    Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. Perhaps this isn't the best way to accomplish this. Before I go and make a support ticket, could you help me to understand the correct workflow for creating .vrscene files on one workstation and rendering them on another? When I am testing this out myself, I seem to lose any bitmaps required for the rendering.
