  • Decal is eating all my memory

    Hi Guys
Please, can you guys review the decal tool? It is a great tool and I love it, but I can only use it in simple scenes.
I try to use decals in the headrests of airplane seats and the Geometry compiling time is very long and crashes my computer or the render is coming black.
Unfortunately, I could not share the scene, but the way I'm trying to use Decal is like this
    Option 1
    - convert the seat pack (3 economy class seats per pack) in Blocks
    - Add one decal on the headrest. The decal will be inside the block
    - fill the cabin with 10 rows of seats

    Option 2
    - Add the decal to the seat pack
    - Conver the seat into VRScene with the decal inside the VRScene

    Option 3
    - Conver the seat pack into VRScene
    - Add the decal to each headrest. The decal is outside the VRScene. I have more than 60 decals on the scene

    Option 4.
    - Convert the seat pack in Block and populate the cabin with all the blocks
    - add the decal outside the block, I have more than 60 Decals on the scene

None of my options seem to work. If the rendering does not crash, it is rendered black, and the Geometry compiling process is a nightmare.
This makes decals useless for me. Of course, is a very simple scene, everything works fine.

Please, can you research the issue? I know it will be hard work without a scene, but I have an issue with every scene I create with decals and I could not share the scene due to company policy.
Here are a couple of my renderings to show you the type of scene that I have to deal with in everyday work.
I would like to use decal for example in the second image, to create the logo of the airliner in the anti-macassard.

    Thank you for the report!
We are aware of similar issues. Regardless, our QA team will benchmark a scene created using your described scenario and forward the results to the V-Ray GPU team.
An update will be posted as soon as there is a solution/workaround devised.

    Kind regards,
    Peter
