  • Walls look like they are floating

I am a long time Vray user for SketchUp and the move to Rhino has been great for modelling but using Vray is a nightmare (hoping its just a learning curve)

So i am early in a model and doing a few basic white renders with a couple of materials. no matter what i do - Vray plane or surface as the floor this element appears to float?

I should add that in the images i move the floor up and the marble element still appears to float.

      Hello, boundary,

This appearance is due to the lighting - the default studio setup environment texture does not produce strong shadows. If you change the scene lighting to, for example Sun and Sky, you will see the difference.
Let me know if you have more questions.

      Kind regards,
      Iva

to me it looks like the lower part of the table is not casting shadows, and only the top part is casting shadows. maybe check that the lower piece has shadow casting turned on?
