  • File Path Editor - how to set a new search path?

    Hi,

I miss an option to set a search path so that missing textures can be fixed by a new dir scan. Did I have overseen something?

You can set a path in Rhino search paths setting.

Ah, good to know as a workaround, thank you very much.

If I add the path, I have to save the file and open it again, right? If this is so cumbersome (especially for large project files with many GB it can take a long time), it would be nice if the search path option could be included in the path editor.

The advantage of a seach path option in the path editor would be that the paths would be permanently repaired and the files would not be searched for each time they are opened.

Paths are always permanently repaired on open. the thing is that this happens automatically on open only. (Rhino does its file path fixing at open as well)
Having search paths in the FPE means that you will perform file path fixing after the opening (and the initial fixing) is over. At the point when you open FPE the paths are (potentially) no longer the original ones. Furthermore where the FPE search paths are gonna be saved ? per document ( in the .3dm) or globally for the machine ( in a settings file)? The second option is identical to Rhino option, and the first one is not very useful

Ah, great, I'll try a repair via Rhino seach path next time. Thank you.
