  • swarm not running - blocked by windows firewall

Hi everyone and happy new year

A week ago I've updated all my PCs to Windows 11 and v-ray 7, since then I haven't been able to use swarm

I've updated to the latest vray and swarm, and I've also set the swarm origin node according to this tutorial
    https://docs.chaos.com/display/VRAYS...Swarm+Clusters

When I run a render with swarm on, the other computers start loading, but then they are marked as Reserved and do not render anything

See the screenshot below of how it looks while rendering (the origin node is the PC in the middle, rendering at 100%)

I've been in contact with the support team and they asked me to disable Windows firewall, which solves the issue, so it seems the problem comes from there

But I can't keep the firewall completely disabled, so I need to find a way to let v-ray work through the firewall.

I've been checking the chaos apps, and all of them are allowed, any ideas on how can I solve this?

        Hi Gustavo,

I contacted the team. They will discuss internally and offer some steps or a remote session to investigate further.

We have exactly the same issue as you. We also just did an online support sessions : conclusion is that disabling all firewalls on all machines works.
We now need to find a way to solve the issue while re enabling our firewalls.
          Our ticket number is 331465.

After some troubleshooting, Chaos support made it work on one of my PC. They've tried several things with the firewall with the same error until it worked

But when I tried to replicate it on other PC I tried with only the last step and it worked perfectly

You only need to include swarm-runner-appsdk to the firewall exemptions, you'll find it in

            Code:
            C:\Program Files\Chaos\V-Ray\Swarm 2
One last thing for Chaos support is the new request to set the origin node, which is a bit rudimentary. I remember with the previous v-ray that wasn't necessary

            Thanks to everyone
