  • Swarm nodes failing to download v-ray

We just patched to the latest Rhino 7, vray 7.0, and Swarm 2.0.
The nodes are not successfully downloading vray

I have disabled firewall on all the involved machines.

Did you follow the instructions (2) about the origin node? And left the window open after running it.

                Thank you very much.

Yes, I had already taken these steps.
There is also a render pass with the swarm 2.0. Sometimes instable is displayed and I have to restart. The nodes also take a very long time to join the render pass

This was never a problem under swarm 1.48.

Is it correct that you have to repeat this --> Right-click on origin.bat > Run as administrator..... every morning /or before every swarm use?

Is there not a possibility via autostart?

                Thanks and best regards

Yes that is my understanding that on one of the machines in the cluster the origin.bat has to run in the background. But from what I understand this can also run on one of the nodes if you have nodes that are always on?
I haven't tried yet to autostart it, but I assume that would be possible.

What does the admin account view look like? (if you look up that link after having started origin.exe)

In general we have big problems with swarm 2.0. Most of the nodes are not able to download the vray package. From what I understand this is a bug, and they are working on a hotfix that will solve it.

                    Thanks.

I hope the problem will be solved soon or there will be a solution.

                    http://localhost:1113/admin/account : Internal error: unexpected status: 401

It is simply uncontrollable and incomprehensible.

Now after 4-5 restarts and tests:
Licence error state: Licence error. 1 The Chaos Licence Server is denying access. Update the licence server and check access fiter (f any). Available V-Ray versions: V-Ray AppSDK 7.00.05 58864bd0

What do I have to do now?

                    Best

I want my spawner from Vray 2.x back--- there were never any dropouts!!!

                        Thank you,

There seems to be a conflict between subscription and perpetual licence when accessing subscription nodes.
I can only access the swarm if I start both Vray licences (subscription and perpetual) on 2 workstations. Then everything runs stable and the nodes are controlled with swarm. If I start only 1 WS, I get no response and nodes are displayed as reseverd.
I can work for now because this solution works.

                        Best regards

                        Marcel

Thank you for your feedback, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience you’ve experienced.

We’ve identified that a significant source of issues in Swarm 2 is related to the Origin node.
This component plays several critical roles, primarily authenticating users and enabling the download of the V-Ray standalone package necessary for rendering on the nodes.
Consequently, it is essential to log in with a valid Chaos account on the Origin machine to facilitate these downloads.

The good news is that we are actively working on an updated version of Swarm 2 that will eliminate the need for the Origin node entirely.
This means that authentication will no longer be required for the nodes to access the necessary V-Ray build.

We are currently in the final QA testing phase of this new version, but we will not rush the release until we are 100% certain it is reliable.
If you are interested in testing the new workflow, please feel free to contact me via personal message.

Thank you for your understanding, and we appreciate your patience as we work to improve your experience.

                          Regards,
                          Konstantin
