  • several bugs/limitations

    I already sent it by mail yestreday, but just for completeness, here I mention the bugs limitations I have foudn so far:

    1 - saving as tiff actualy saves a bmp with .tif extension
    2 - when rendering a window larger than the maximum size (either wider than 800 or higher than 600 pixels), the rendering is streched instead of scaled to best fit
    3 - when setting the rendering size to custom, the window is cropped instead of scaled to best fit
    4 - pointlights, linearlights and spotlights don't work
    5 - typing a . in intensity textbox of light, when box is empty prints a 5
    6 - typing a . in Shadow bias textbox of light, when box is empty prints a 0
    7 - VrayLightmaterial has no multiplier
    8 - Lightportal does not work. Although it changes the output slightly, the multiplier determines the intensity.

    Yes this is true, for right now it is just a bmp.

    Since this cap is not going to exist in the final version we left it as is.
    4 - pointlights, linearlights and spotlights don't work
    Linear lights currently are not supported with VRay. I've thought of making it just a skinny rectangle light, but that seems like a hack to me. As for the other lights, try adjusting the intensity. The default intensity, I suppose, is too low.

    Invalid data entries result in the last valid entry being used after the edit box loses focus.

    These also are being worked on.

    The UI does definately have some kinks to be worked out. I suppose default values for the lights also needs revision. Thanks for the suggestions!

      some more bugs

      1 - seems the other image formats are bmp's also
      2 - bitmaps that are assigned to several objects, are loaded multiple times.
      3 - there is no possibility to make decals
      4 - UV-tiling is not possible
      5 - tif files as bitmap don't load, but can be assigned to a slot.
      6 - hdr images can be loaded as texture, but it appears they act as 8 bit images.
      7 - lightmaterial transparancy texture? It can be assigned, but after O.K. and reopening the dialog, the texture is gone from the inputbox.
      8 - lightmaterial color does not work.
      9 - The match button in the bottom of the properties does not function
      10 - there is no way to retrieve a material and assign it to another object.

        O.K. it seems possible to assign an existing material to another object:

        first select object with material, then add other objects material to selection, edit, O.K.

          Good catch, that will be dealt with immediately.

          I'm afraid that I don't entirely follow you on this one. Could you maybe send me a screen cap of exactly what the problem is?

            I know that material edit is under development, but here is one bug/limitation. Bump Multiplier can't be negative value.

                  I think it had something to do with 16-bit color depth for the screen... but it is fixed now.
