Well, after some more testing it does not seem to be related to background. It also happens with default light or only GI light (the forming of blocks as in the image)

It does not seem to have effect on the output though...

It's not a bug... it's the adaptive ppt thingy, which I left on by default.

BTW - really interesting how's it working. This "importance blocks" quite nice looking. But - why ppt itself doesn't work ? And I remember you said, that VRay does path tracing not like in maxwell (bi-directional). Is there any improvements there ?

The V-Ray core that comes with the rhino plugin is newer than the 1.47.03 version, yes.

But - why ppt itself doesn't work?

I suppose this is a thing for Joe to look into, since ppt works quite well in the standalone version and in the V-Ray SDK sample renderer.

And I remember you said, that VRay does path tracing not like in maxwell (bi-directional). Is there any improvements there ?

Not at this time, but I'm thinking about it
