When I turn on GI and render the memory goes up in the paging file, which is normal. After the rendering is finished the memory doesn't go down, see screen capture on lower left, the task manager shows 5 renderings and more page file being used with each rendering. I only have 1 Gig of ram so once it gets past this point rendering becomes very slow. The scene is very simple, a plane and a sphere with basic V-Ray shaders, the sphere has a bit of reflectivity. Gi is turned on and for lighting shadows are off, show GI only are checked.
If I try a more complex scene it goes through my memory in a mater of seconds. The memory will come back if I close Rhino, see task manager with red glow in screen capture.
Here are my system specs:
Window XP Pro service pack 2
Pentium 4 2.8 GHz
1 GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT 128MB Driver version: 8.1.9.5
My paging file sits on my second drive - D and is set for 2000 - 3000 MB, Usually once a couple of months I will move it to my C drive and defrag my D drive and the move it back to the D drive. I am running Diskeeper in case this could have something to do with it, it's set to run in the early am.
I'm going to move my paging file to the C drive and see if that makes a difference.
Thanks,
Glen
