  • problem with the materials sticking to my objects

    Hi

I have some problem with the materials sticking to my objects after reopening my file.
I have a group of objects (grouped together) and a sphere in my scene.
What is happening is after shutting down my computer and restarting it, and starting Rhino some objects miss the vray-materials connected to them???

    Best regards

Others have brought this up as well but I have not been able to reproduce it on my end. Could you please provide a list documenting the exact steps required to reproduce this? Thanks.

      Happy new year

Sorry fore the delay of the answer? new-year and every thing!
Well I haven?t been able to reproduce the defect process again, could be the complexity of the geometry, I have only tried with a small box the 2nd time.
I can email you the 1st file if it helps!

problem with the materials sticking to my objects

I can confirm this bug as well. This is really serious problem because I am loosing my materials all the time. I have about 60 materials in my file (which is very complex, about 100 MB big, more than 1.600.000 polygons) and each time I reopen the file about 10-20 materials are lost. I tried to attach materials by layer, not by object but it didn?t help. It also doesn?t matter if the material has texture map or not.

Sometimes I am also loosing rendering settings - GI methods are reset to irradiance/QMC after reopening the file, default light is switched back to "on", use hidden lights is also on.

I can upload the scene for you if it will help.

            Pif,

Please upload the file as soon as you can. I can give you ftp space if you need. You can also e-mail the scene to vrfrhino@asgvis.com.

            Thanks,

problem with the materials sticking to my objects

              Hello all,

Can someone do us a huge favor? We need someone to record step by step video with an application like Camtasia studio. We need this as soon as possible.

We also need the list of rendererswith version # installed for Rhino.

We are trying to resolve this issue as soon as we can.

              Thank you for your patience.

              Best regards,

              Corey

                    Comput,

Your entire DXDIAG please. Also a video capture demonstrating this problem would help us a lot.

                    Thanks.

Yes I've been looking at it. If you could send me a text file explaining which objects / layers aren't holding their material values, that would help me track this down a lot.

                        Thanks

problem with the materials sticking to my objects

                              Nice...
It's 3 at night here in DK, I'll go to bead soon...
If you need a more detailed explanation just drop me an email;o)

The image is how it is at full rendered with materials assigned.

Video 01 is rendering out after I open the file and render it for the 1st time, as you can see it renders out some of the materials. But when I open the material-editor there is NO material there! (looks like its getting it from some kind of cache info. somewhere)

Video 02 I assigned the material and save the file under new name!

Video 03 is after saving I shut down RHINO and restart my computer, and as you can see either the wood material or the glossy-ball is missing the material.

I noticed that it appears after I assigned the glossy material (it was the last one I assigned) to the ball and rendered the file once. (result is the image you have) Then I shut down and restart my computer and voil? there is some materials missing in the render but they are assigned to the objects when I open the material editor. (it?s messy I know, its late soory;o)

I hope it helps you track it.

                              Best regards
                              Good night;o)
