  • Prefilter of the light cache calculation is extrem slow

    If I render my scene with a light cache as secondary engine and Irad.Map as primary engine, than first the light cache will be deleted. OK, but than the Prefilter start and my CPU goes at 0% usage for a very long time (some minutes). Maybe, the engine makes a break after the light cache calculation.

    PS: I don't want forget to say - Vray is wonderful fast and bring a great quality. Thank you.

      I didn't notice same problem, but something is botehring me too. If I don't use a prefilter, after the LC, vray still does a prefilter pass, altough not as long as I would have prefilter turned on.

        V-Ray always does an additional pass on the light cache samples, since it needs to calculate some values. The "prefilter" option just makes this calculation more complicated and apparent. What is slowing it down to make this phase visible is the progress window being too slow to update. I suppose it might be easier to just include a default progress window with V-Ray, just like with the VFB.

            The progress window has been fixed for 2 days. It will be in the release tomorrow. The real problem was not the progress window itself. I was sleeping in a loop for too long thinking that it would give more cpu time to the rendering thread, but it actually caused many problems (Rhino messages being processed very slowly, etc ). I'd imagine this is all caused by that problem.
