  • Hide Backface (disable double sided) dosn't work right

    Hallo,

I have an interior scene and try to make a shot like in the image, but with a ceiling for better GI results now. So I have insert a ceiling and disabled "double-sided". But this ceiling is not invisble. Now the ceiling looks like a diffuse translucent membran. I have the feeling, I see the lighting from inside at outside. Interesting effect.

    without ceiling

    with ceiling

PS: It is so quiet here in the forum today. Is something happen?

I don't think what you want will work that easily; the way this is done in 3dsmax is to assign a double-sided material to the ceiling where one material is the "real one" and the back-face material is transparent - unfortunately a double-sided material is not available in rhino.

    Best regards,

Oh, that is realy bad for architecture renderings. Backface culling should not be a problem for a modern renderer like Vray. The Rhino surfaces have normals, why not detected it.

What do the "double-side" option in Rhino?

Will it be possible to get a "camera visibilty" option in the next time? If I disable this option in Rhinoman|AIR, the object is invisible for the camera rays, but visible for any other rays. Could be great to get it for Vray too.

I have found the "Double-Sided" option at the help page. Now I understand better - the backface is linked to the front face.

I will post my wish at my wish list better.
