  • Can only render once

I have been working with various scenes (new and from beta 10.5) on a fresh install of Rhino and a clean install of Beta 11 Vray. I keep getting the same problem:

I Open a scene, play with materials, edit colors, add layers, import, etc. Then hit render ... and no problem.

Then I do anything (edit materials, add an object, move stuff around), and try to re-render, and CRASH.

It happens even with new files (tested just one object and got samne results).

    Only work around:

    1. save the file just before rendering.
    2. Render
    3. change what needs to be changed
    4. Save
    5. Hit render, crashes Rhino
    6. Relaunch Rhino
    7. get RCM error described by everyone
    8. Load saved scene
    9. Render

    repeat steps 3-9

this is getting a bit old to save and relaunch everytime I change a setting. I have found that doing a RenderWindow will not crash the machine. But if I try to simply render, even after 50 uses of RenderWindow, it still craches.

Did you email Corey? He has a fix that will probably stop this problem.

He announced a fix a few days ago.

        still happening

I have installed the new .rhp file that you sent (thanks) (overwriting the old) and even moved the RCM.rhp file to get rid of that error on Start up, but I still have issues rendering more than once.

I can issue as many RenderWindow commands, but as soon as I go to render the second time, it crashes every time.

        Any ideas?

My recommendation would be to uninstall V-Ray for Rhino all together. Then run Rhino without reinstalling V-Ray. Then close Rhino and reinstall V-Ray. After you have installed relplace the RHP file as you have done before. Then open Rhino and render with V-Ray. At first render you will be prompted to either enter a serial number or proceed in evaluation mode. You want to proceed in evaluation mode.

At this point you should be fine. If not please let us know.

          Best regards,

          Corey

Could you please send me the scene in question? Please include any texture files, etc that you use in the scene. Thanks

I am thinking this is probably a different problem, I believe the original problem only occurred when people exited the program and it was not linked to how many times people had rendered. So this is probably something new.
