  • How can I get back my background at png in Photoshop

    Hallo,

every time if I direct open an image in photoshop, the rendered background is transparent. Any suggestion how I can bring back the background?
At the moment I open my renderings in my image browser and copy it per clipboard to PS. Uggly workflow.

You would have to save it as a type without transparency. It appears that VRay considers background to be an alpha channel. I'm afraid you can't do that right now unless you save out as a bmp or jpg or whatever doesn't support alpha channels.

I'm not sure if this is intentional or not.

JPG? I don't trust jpg. Or is it compressed without errors?
Hmm, I could use bmp. But if I use it, how can I save a single alpha chanal? I think, we have lost the alpha map in the last release. If I remember me right I have seen alpha map files at previous betas.

As far as I know Alpha and RGB are shown as separate channels in the VFB, but I think they have always been saved out into the same file. Perhap it has not always been like that, but it has been as far back as I recall. Maybe Vlado could shed more light on this than I can.

        [edit]
I'll play with some old installers to see if I'm remembering wrong, which is definately possible.

an option to save alpha channel on/off with png would be cool. also a button where one can select between 24 and 32 bit per channel with png would be cool!
