  • Processing Geometry Table

    I've been rendering a model just fine. I close the model, return to it later in the day, and all of a sudden, I can't render.

    The Rhino command line says processing geometry table. The Rhino just hangs and ultimately, forces me to end the task.

    I save the file to a new location and the same problem. I up grade to SRC 5 and the problem still occurs.

    Is this Vray or Rhino that is getting stuck at this phase? I don't understand because it just started happening out of the blue.

      do you have the most recent version of VRay for Rhino? 12.1 ? There was a problem in Beta 12 that was resolved in 12.1 that involved the render process getting stuck in an infinte loop ( hanging )

        Processing Geometry Table

        Sorry for the delay - I got really busy after my post and used Saturday to get drunk.

        I've downloaded and installed 12.1 the day it came out. Unless I installed it incorrectly, to the best of my knowledge, I am having the problem using 12.1

        I will e-mail you the file.

        Thanks for the help,
        Bill

          Hello,

          Any idea's as to what might be wrong? I e-mailed a file as requested. I would like to work with this same model without have to set it up again.

          Today, I tired saving to a different location / name but still have problems.

            Some times (very seldom), if you can not open a scene anynmore, it helps to open a scene per rhino 4 and save it as rhino 3 file, but than all vray data are gone. Only the last help.

              Also there is a way to purge plugin data from a file if you think that it has become corrupted. Thats basically what your doing, except you can do this from within Rhino3. In the rhino command line type "-save" and then hit "v" to toggle SavePluginData to NO. No plugin data will be saved out. So this is a quick way to strip all non-Rhino stuff out. This is a nuclear bomb of sorts, so use it only if you REALLY need it.

                  Thanks for the response guys! I appreciate it.

                  @Micha

                  I can open the file, assign materials, work on the model etc. But when I hit render, the command line shows "Processing Geometry Table" and then hangs. No offical crash or error.

                  @joeb

                  Per my response to Micha, is this "nuclear bomb" something you think I should try?

                    Well, if you'd like, make a copy of the file first and try it on the copy. I am not sure if it will do the trick for you or not, but so long as you back your file up there is no harm in trying.

                    I have been very wrapped up in some features issues for a week or so - but I believe Corey has forwarded me your scene so I will definately take a look at it over the weekend. Sorry for the delay

                      Joe,

                      I will go ahead and try it on a copy then. No worries on the delay. I'm just happy you guys are working hard and doing a great job at taking care of your customers.

                        Joe,

                        I nuked the file as you described. It sort of worked. I got passed Processing Geometry Table and was able to create the rendering mesh. Then crash.

                          Processing Geometry Table

                          I ran into the same problem again with a different model this time. I tried Micha's approach of opening the file in Rhino 4 but it didn't work either.

                          Everything was rendering fine until I stopped mid way through to changes some settings. I turned off Batch Render and enabled GI. When I hit render, things hang at Processing Geometry Table.

                            After doing some problem solving, I found cut and pasting my model into a new template, I was able to render again.

                            Before doing this, I checked for any bad objects that might be causing the problem. There were none.

                            Not sure if this helps any but at least I'm able to render again!
