  • RCM of RC2 problems

    Hi ASGvis team,

please try to get a better RCM tool for the next release. The current version is not good: the interface is much to big and the user can not enable "show widget". It's very difficult to manipulate the mapping without visible projection geometrie. The previous interface was much better - compact and better control.

    RCM of RC2 problems

... I have try to copy the RCM tool from RC1 to RC2, but I get a bad RCM interface. Do somebody know, which files must be copied from the previous release?

You can if you click on show advance UI,the mapping widget is there and you can choose to see it.

yes, and don't lock the default layer of rhino otherwise you can't manipulate the widget anymore even if it is visible... ( lost a lot of time thinking what's wrong with that ! )

the widget should be assigned to the layer whom the textured object belong to...

absolutely I also lost a lot of time figuring this one !

And you are right they should be on the same layer as the object they are attached to.

Yes we have brought many of these concerns up with the people developing RCM. The version of RCM shiping with RC3 has the beginnings of UI fixes - as well as a bit of extra functionality. Please keep in mind that RCM is also a work in progress - and we're very thankful that they are even allowing us to use it in our plugin.

Joe, I miss a "frontal" projection (an other name is "camera" projection). Maybe it could be implemented per VfR much easier than in the RCM tool. If VfR can not do it, please post at the RCM team.

But I can not move it per mouse or have I overseen something? And I can not hide the widget again.

Is your "0" or default layer lock?

Thank you for the hint. I have set a layer invisible, that was the default layer and is renamed. Strange: if I hide this renamed "default" layer, that the widget is blocked. Do the McNeel RCM team now it?

I don't know if they know, but They decided to remove the RCM mmapping tools temporarely from the Rhino 4 beta, because it was not working to their taste, and they are supposed to be working on it.

The version of RCM we got yesterday is working better on several fronts. I'm not sure about this layer issue though. I'll see if I can bring it up with them today.
