  • Crash when applying/duplicating materials

    Hi All,

I've had this happen a couple of times...

    1) Open existing large file
    2) Model some additions in Rhino
    3) Import new materials into scene eg - plastic matte
    4) Duplicate new material
    5) Rhino crashes with RCM error (every time Rhino crashes I get some dialog about RCM !!) and a message about Brazil.

    Has anyone seen anything similar?

Rhino v3 SR5a, VRay RC2, Win XP Pro

When you get those RCM dumps it isn't necessarily an RCM problem. They just pop up whenever an unhandled exception is thrown. I'll see if I can find anything wrong with the duplicate material code. Thanks

      Crash when applying/duplicating materials

      Hi Joe,

Thanks for the reply. I was also getting the RCM crash dumps when I was playing with a Faro digitiser arm the other day - funny thing is I very rarely had any crashes before RCM was installed as part of VRay. It just made me think that somehow the RCM plug-in was causing the problem.

      Cheers,

Its possible that it is causing some problems. It could also be that it causes those dumps to be generated and forces the app to shutdown in cases where Rhino normally would have handled the problem differently. I'm not sure though - but I'd say unless the crash happened while mapping or using RCM functionality then it probably isn't RCM causing the crash. Rather its RCM reporting about that crash.
