I'm doing a turntable animation and saving each frame as a jpeg. I'm getting the alpha's saved, too, like the bug from before. Only when in animation rendering, though.
Hi joeb - I might be wrong but is craiggorton talking about the 'alpha' error message we used to get when saving renderings in the last version?
I may have worded my response badly, but I meant to say that I don't get the error message anymore?! - (therefore if craiggorton is getting this message, then he may not have uninstalled correctly?)

Ohhh, ok I misread that - sorry. Yeah if you are getting that message you may have it installed improperly. Remember that you must uninstall previous builds before installing the new ones - as magnatizerr said.
I don't get the error when doing single renders- I've uninstalled correctly.
In fact, I don't get the error when doing animations, either. I just get all my frames plus I get an alpha channel saved for each frame, even though I don't have any channels selected for output.
Try doing a simple rendered animation saving as jpeg's and you'll see what I mean. I think that's what RVallieres is talking about, too.

Ok - then my initial response is the reason for that - I only do the current channel when you are saving directly from the VFB - not in batch rendering situations where the actual file dialog is by-passed.
Remember that even if you have no additional channels being rendered to - the alpha and RGB channels are on by default. If your saving to an image format that doesn't directly support alpha it will not be merged into a single file - there will be a separate file generated for both channels. I suppose in the future we can add some extra UI to only render the active channel in the VFB or something like that. But I guess the other option for right now is to save out a png instead of a bmp or jpg.
Thanks Joe- that explains it. It's not a big deal, really, but when I'm making an animation from 100 frames I like to have the file sizes be small, so I use jpg. I can just sort my folder by size and delete all the alpha jpg's for now.
