Do you have the RDK installed?

      Re: Dependent DLL is missing

Make sure you have admin privileges when installing VfR - our licensing system requires it. The other user mentioning RDK could be correct as well. I believe if you install a newer version of RDK it breaks our plugin, or at least I've been told that by a programmer from McNeel. Perhaps you should just reinstall our plugin?

        I have the same problem!
I've just installed the RDK6 and the new Displacement plug-in!

If I reinstall the VrayforRhino I loose the news in the RDK6, isn't it?

        Thanks

          Re: Dependent DLL is missing

Yes - I have been in contact with Andy le Bihan, the main RDK developer, and he informed me that the way I am currently tying our plugin to RDK was incorrect. He is currently working on a version of RDK that will allow VfR to get along with any future releases of RDK without breaking.

Until our service release is out I think the best bet for using VfR would be to stay with the RDK that is installed with VfR. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ok, this was exactly my supposition. I will try to get back to the RDK5 (it worked)

Where can I get the RDK 5 from ? How do I uninstall the actual one?

I don't like to put more pressure on you, but is this VRFR4 - RDK6 adjustment a matter of days or more of weeks/month ...?

                  Re: Dependent DLL is missing

Just use the RDK that installs during the V-Ray install process... timeframe, when the next SR is release which should be relatively soon

                      Re: Dependent DLL is missing

Ok - I've stumbled upon the problem that causes this.

If you install our product AFTER you've installed RDK Beta 6 or the latest Brazil WIP then you get 2 versions of RDK installed ( because our installer installs RDK Beta 2 ). These two are vastly different, they install to different areas, and in general just mess each other up.

To make the current build of VfR work you will need to do the following.

                      1. Uninstall whatever version of VfR and RDK is currently installed
                      2. Download and install RDK Beta 6 ( you can download it from http://en.wiki.mcneel.com/default.as...mentKit10.html )
                      3. Uninstall RDK Beta 6
                      4. Reinstall VfR

I realize this seems odd - but the installing and uninstall of RDK Beta 6 is the only way to make sure it gets properly removed.

Note - this WILL most likely break your WIP Brazil plugin. I've been in contact with Andy (developer of Brazil and RDK ) and he has helped me make sure this won't happen in the future. When we release our next service release this will not be a problem - but until then this is the solution.

                          Re: Dependent DLL is missing

After following the process in Joe's message, before you re-install VRfRm you also need to delete the Registry Key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/McNeel/RDK. If you don't, the RDK will not re-install and you will have the missing DLL message. If you do it right, when you reinstall VRfR, the RDK installatiion will start up at the end of the process.

                          Hope this helps.

                          Steve

Using Joe's, Steves' and Andy's process I now have a working Vray - THANKS!

                            1. Uninstall whatever version of Vray and

                            3. Uninstall whatever version of RDK is currently installed
                            4. Remove the folder c:\program files\Brazil 2.0 for Rhino
                            5. Remove the folder c:\program files\common files\McNeel Shared\Rhinoceros
                            6. Remove any files named rcm* or rhrdk* or rhrcm* from c:\windows\system32\
                            7. delete any RDK reference inside the Registry (if you know the Registry),
at least delete the Registry Key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/McNeel/RDK
                            8. Restart
                            9. Download and install RDK Beta 6 ( you can download it from http://en.wiki.mcneel.com/default.as...mentKit10.html )
                            10. Uninstall RDK Beta 6
                            11. Reinstall VfR
                            12. make sure the RDK installation starts up at the end of the VfR installation
                            13. start Rhino

Also a bug, for DR are needed full activated licenses at the slaves or the DR dosn't run.
