  • VRAY Sun

    Hi Guys,

    Ive got a query.

I click the sun icon in the toolbar and place a sun.

Under GI (SKYLIGHT)M i change the default sun to the added light (light 01). I also uncheck the box next to it (override settings)

In the scene i then select the light and choose modify under the properties window . I get to see the sun setup and i change the time of day. I see the light has now turned to a different direction. When i then select the light again and click modify, how come all the settings have reset? Is this a bug? basically every time i open the light properties and try to modify the sun settings, the settings have jumped back to default.

Also i cant seem to get blurry shadows anymore whn making the sun bigger?

    Anybody else having this problem?

    Justin

    Re: VRAY Sun

Hmm, not seen here. What version do you use?

A workaround could be to use the interface at the environment options.

PS: I moved the post to the bug section, I hope it's ok.

      Hi Micha,

ive got the latest version of rhino 4 (sr3) and the latest patch of Vray 01.01.27.

I tried it again in a clean file on another computer....same problem. Chanhe the time of the sun to afternoon.....changes the light....but when you click modify again the time snaps back to the time on the computer????

        Re: VRAY Sun

Hmm, I can't see the bug here, but I test an other version of VfR here. Best send a bug report per ASGvis Webside->Support->... with a link to this thread, than it is in the bug tracker system.

But if you use "override suns parameter" at the env options, than you get what you need?

          Hi micha,

I've made a little youtube video of what im doing...its a bit low res. Use the full screen mode and then you can see what im doing with the sun and that it jumps back to default.

Hope it makes sense....look fwd to your response

            Re: VRAY Sun

Ah, I see, the Vray sun properties are not the problem, it's the sun placement dialog. I found it now, the same buggy effect here too. It could be a Rhino problem, because the sun tool is from McNeel. Best send a short bug report per support system and the developer team will check it.

                  Re: VRAY Sun

I suppose so Micha, the sun light get installed with the RDK,I thought it would be solved in the last version ,but it is not.

On february 12th,Andy posted a message on the Rhino plug-ins NG about the final beta stage of the RDK saying that the final version should be release within a month ,since then nothing.
