Vray not rendering textures, it dont load them either

ok, here is the problem, i just, have been working on my project for a week, then i made, all my batch files to render, and just, activated it; it wass good so far until the program started to crash ( the exact things that happened were: first, it wont load, any textures ( not even able to preview them in the material editor) ( ah the scene was already textured, so it dump all of them.) later the rendering process, was automatically cancelled, during thr geometry table processing.)

after that i uninstalled vray, and then reinstalled it again ( with all the needed pc restart), but, it was the same thing, then i uninstalled rhino and vray,( the same process) and it wont worked.

later, i downloaded again vray and weirdly (beacouse is the same version i had) it worked ( i mean, it renders and dont crash) but im still not able to load any texture.

the problem is that i have to deliver the job, tomorrow ( i guess i have to work in 3d max )

my scene wasn't very special, just a few, arroway textured materials, and a high irr+lc configurations. ah and i guess is not a scene problem, beacouse i'd tried with michas's starter kit and guess what

if is useful my system specs are:
quad q9450 oced 3.4 stable
6gb ram
geforce 8800gtx

ah and i have the lastest version of vray for rhino 4

Memory problem? At Win 32bit your standard limit is 1.6GB. Large textures needs much RAM.
Grey format textures cause crashes too sometimes, convert to RGB helps?
Latest VfR crashs, if you use some special letters for materials/texturepaths like ä-ü-ö-... .

hi micha,tks for the reply.

my xp is 64 bits, and it is a weird problem, beacouse it doesnt loads even the blurred low res GI hdri

also i found a solution that was to rename again the textures and convert them to BMP ( weirdly, it wasnt reading jpg and png) , for rendering; but found another problem, the textures were lost while batch rendering, so i had to change names of textures, for every scene( that is a very space expensive solution).

is there any hope, i have to deliver a huge amount of renders for a client this monday, and without batch renderng optio, this is going to be a no sleep weekend. and i havent seep too much this week

Hmm, I never had this problem.
Do you use 1.1.71? Maybe it's the path problem.

The problem is visible at the texture preview? If yes, than I would try to find the reason here. Do you use paths with "standard" letters only? You could try to save your textures direct at c:/texture.png.

Do you use DR and this cause a path problem?
Do you use VfR materials?
Do you see error messages at the progress window like "textures not loaded"?

I use XP64 at all machines here and it works, if I workaround the ä-ü-ö-bug.

I actually think that there was probably an error in the installation that disturbed the texture loader. The only other thing that I think could be the issue would be if your textures were in a location that prevented them from being read, but thats way more of a longshot than a slip up during the install. Try uninstalling and reinstalling and see if that solves the issue. Try not to have any other programs open while doing this bc an action from another open program can prevent something from being written/installed correctly

hi, thanks for the replies, well i guess the problem was the path name, beacouse i renamed textures again and reasigned them all /huge huege work / and that worked well, i hope this bug is gone for the next release, beacouse if not im not going to sleep again, jeje
