  • Runntime error...

I'm having this error when trying to render a scene... It seems to go away when I remove some models on the scene... I also noticed this happens before the actual render (that moment RAM use goes sky high just before cpu starts doing its magic).

Scene doent seem too complicated. I'm pretty sure I've done worst before.

just for the record that happened on a core i7 with 4 gig ddr3 ram (maybe ram too low?) (ah ye.. also windows 7 32bits)

Thanks for taking your time to read it.

    Zaza.

Yeah, if you see your system process for Rhino climb up to about 2gb, and then it crashes, that's a RAM issue alright. 32-bit processes are restricted to about that much RAM, and unfortunately the current version of our software doesn't allow you to surpass that limitation.

So... basicaly blame my noobish way of making more complicated models to compensate my lack of skills with texturing?

Yes.. im pretty sure RAM climbs up to 1,8gig ish, then it crashes.. (I presume it hits 2gig). I could always try to get a 64bit system, but I guess I'd have to wait for a newer version of Rhino? (or perhaps.... learn how to use textures better ¬¬ )

Install the 64bit OS if you can, it helps a lot, you can use until 3.6GB.

Some question based on this topic:

            - Vray is made for 64 bits OS?

            - If i am using OS Windows 7, 32 Bits, is there any solution?.....i am worried about this because i would like so much to make complex sceanes

            Sorry the english

                Re: Runntime error...

the 2gb limit has nothing to do with the OS, it's the host application and our plugin being 32-bit that are the problem.

                  Re: Runntime error...

Even if you use a 64bit OS, V-Ray for Rhino is 32bit and you will have the same limitations.
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

                    HUM...

i dint know that. So, cant we use more than 2GB ever? complicated...

Vray for Rhino doesnt work as 64? or until NOW doesnt exist a 64 bits version?

This isn't right, at a 64bit OS you can use Rhino+VfR until approx. 3.6GB (best install 5GB RAM or more). I use XP64 8GB and it works fine until 3.6GB.

So, i think that one of my solutions is to install a 64Bits.

Micha, so Vray for Rhino works at a 64OS? I thought that it was needed to be made specifficaly to a 64 bits...

                          Re: Runntime error...

Works best, only the RAM usage is limited to 3.6GB. If Rhino and Vray would be 64bit, than you could use "unlimited" RAM. The 64bit OS is realy useful for complex scenes:

So, Rhino 4.0 runs on 64 bits plataform???

I thought it was made for 32 bits (actually i think it is)....but my question is: it works TOO on 64 bits?

You can install 32bit apps in a 64bit environment... that doesn't mean the app is now suddenly a 64bit app though. It's still a 32bit app, and is limited by the rules of a 32bit app. Search around on google for a bit, you should be able to find pleanty of information about the topic.
                              Best regards,
