  • Vray does not render

    Hi

On my brand new laptop MSI (i7 3610qm, Geforce gtx 660m 2bg gddr5, ram 8gb ddr3) I installed the new vray_adv_150221_rhino5_x64 with the dongle.
When installing vray, the installation complained that Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 is newer than expected one by the installer. That's why before my second attempt to install vray I removed Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64...

I click render and that freezes Rhino.Click image for larger version

The scene consists of one box only without material assigned nor other any other settings.

I tried to report the bug- nothing happens when click send bug.

I hope this can be fixed and my new vray and laptop can do some work for me at all

I just sent the bug report.
Problem remains. I re installed Rhino and Vray. When start Rhino after the crash I get the message:

I notice that same happens when dongle is plugged off, there is no difference indeed.

Please help. I need to work on project this weekend.
    Thank you

when click render, V-ray progress window appears only. The VFB does not appear. Rhino is not corresponding anymore.
If I open VFB before to start the render and click render- rhino closes and crash report dialog by MC Neel appears.
I have a feeling there is an incapability with my laptop

I plug the dongle in another computer. Same thing happens again
Should it be the dongle activated somehow?

I'm seeing a similar problem but in a very different environment. I'm experiencing intermittent crashing when starting the rendering, just very simple scenes. we have 60 licenses with the dongle on a server - it's an academic environment and i find that I have trouble reproducing the crash - except when teaching. i'm starting to think that it's the license server causing problems when everyone pushes render and requests a license at the same time. anyone know if it's possible to set the license server to keep the render licenses checked out, so as to minimize traffic?

We have resolved the freezing of Rhino in cases where the dongle is not programmed with a valid V-Ray for Rhino license. This will be available in a future service release.

              Best regards,
              Corey

I guess you have the same problem as I had. It's a dongle issue.

                Go to:
                http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/rhin..._quick_1_5.pdf

and read "Reprogramming a Dongle" carefuly and follow the steps.
Then it is working perfectly fine

                  Did it 2 months ago

                  thanks anyway

ps. At that time I got confused as my previously purchased dongle did not require any reprogramming
