Frame Buffer Window Freeze

For us its the VFB that freezes when you click any icon on it and you must hit ctrl+ alt + delete to get control of your system back.

So I checked my rhino.ini file and there is no licensing section nor a timeout variable to set. Does this mean I have to add one? What's the default if this isn't in the ini file?

it is not in the rhino ini,but vray ini.

mine is c:/documents and settings/all users/asgvis

the file is :v-ray for rhino.ini

open the file with notepad,near the bottom you will see this

yeah sorry, that's the one i meant. mine is in c:/program data/ASGVIS

does setting it to -1 turn it off?

I guess so because I don't have any problem since I did it ,2 years ago.

I also have one there,but it is strange that your v-ray for rhino.ini is different....

I thought that I had the pesky Framebuffer freeze sorted, until I had to reinstall my computer. Now it is back and even more persistent that ever before. please try to solve this issue asap, because it is a real pain now to use vray for rhino!!! and since most of my daily work is rendering, you can understand the frustration this causes...

Previously I could avoid the problem by disabling adobe CC, but that no longer works. After I installed a different wacom driver, the problem was gone, but only temporary. Wish I could give more clues!

for what it is worth: I can consistently 'remove' the lock-up bug by killing the following two processes:

Wacom_TabletUser
Wacom_TouchUser

I don't need to kill Wacom_Tablet and the tablet keeps functioning (at least partly)

I haven't done enough rendering the past day or 2 to verify that this is a fix yet though.

Hi Michael, this is not related to the issue I'm having: it is the frame buffer that freezes, not the material editor graying out. Fernando has suggested to download one of the nightly builds, but I haven't had time to test that yet.

I had the freeze issue all the time in my machine. Matt committed some changes to the nightlies build and I haven't had the freeze since then. We really need the guys that have access to the nightly to test it. Like you guys I really want get rid of this freeze issue.

It seems to have been fixed on my system as well! I just installed VRayForRhino5x64_2.00_25105 nightly and no more freezes here so far. Maybe I need to give it a more thorough test, but since the freeze happened always, I am confident that the new build has solved it for me. Thanks alot!

I have seen the freeze bug from time to time only, most under heavy usage with a lot of open Rhino tasks and Photoshop. With the new build no freeze yet.

The nightly builds are open to betatesters that have been invited, so these are not public downloads.
