Object's Material Defaults to DefaultMaterial

On some occasions, when an object has a Vray material applied to it (rather than by layer or parent), sometimes it'll revert to DefaultMaterial for no reason. As a result it renders grey as though no material is applied.

Unfortunately I cannot recall what triggers this bug, it's rather unpredictable. Just want to see if others have experienced this and maybe we can get to the bottom of it.

I was able to duplicate the issue, and will look into it more.

I was going to say it was purge in my OP, but I wasn't entirely sure.
