  • How to keep the camera exposure?

    Hi,

in the past I rendered a lot of jewelry renderings for my client. Different views needs a different strong camera blur. So I used f-stop 32 for one view and an other view got 8. But if I change the parameter the output brightness is changed now. I'm a photographer and know to work with simple f-stops. At VfR2 I disabled the exposure and the workflow was very easy. But the VfR3 camera works like an old camera without integrated A-automatic. Any fix on the way?

Save setup as visopt -> edit for example in Notepad -> set physical cam exposure 0 and color mapping bright_mult 0.2 -> save the file and reload to Rhino. Now the camera F-number can be free used without changing exposure. Not so simple like direct setting an option at VfR2, but better than nothing. Good for a lot of jewelry work and use of the advanced camera.

I hope the advanced camera users get an official way to keep the exposure in the future. Who is using the F-stop for adjusting the exposure?

      Hi Micha
We could not have that exposure option back, because that brake the formula and the invert formula that we have to control and link the EV values slider with the advanced setting sliders. What you could do is instead of use the F-Stop to control the DOF, use the defocuse. it will be hard at the beginning to get use to it, but at the end of the day will be easier. For one view I use this amount of Defocuse and for the other I use this amount of defocuse.

        Hi Fer,

I understand. I'm switching between advanced and basic camera for adjusting the DOF now. It's not the workflow I expected, but it's a quickest workaround. So, the easy basic cam use cause a more difficult advanced cam use. (Experts seems to be the looser by this way.)

But if I can manual switch to defocus and adjust it (it change f-number and ISO of the adv cam) and switch back to the adv cam, why not do it in adv mode too: the user change the F-number and the ISO is automatic set? Defocus and F-Number and ISO could be connected by an exposure "auto" flag option. The connection is there if I'm in basic mode, it's only needed to set active for the adv cam mode too.

I understand if you say, I could use the defocus. But I and the most adv user are photographers, we know to work with f-fumbers. For example it's easier to keep in mind that I use f-stop 8/11/22 for different views during one of my watch projects.

(Finally the basic/adv switch based on changing parameters for the camera is not really needed. Enabling an adv mode should show additional options and not switch the system.)

For my jewelry projects I will disable the exposure per visopt file. More work, but if done, it works quite good. I wished I could stick at the advanced camera without to switch the UI.
