no Material Preview and not rendering

Hey Forum,

in our office we get to a reaccuring problem.
In the Vray window, the Material Preview is not showing up (also after importing new or existing materials). You just see the black and grey default grid with no sphere.
Additionally to that a click on "render" doesn't do anything (apart from showing "_render"in the rhino command bar).

Until now a reboot of the PC has worked out but right now I can't use Vray properly anymore.
I also updated to 3.40.02 and tried with other Rhinofiles or complete new files. The problem still remains.

What you describe seems to be caused by lack of available render node licenses. Both the material preview and the render process itself require such license.
The next time you are unable to render or see the material preview scene, could you please open your license page and click on the V-Ray 3.0 for Rhino licenses? (V-Ray > Help > License > License Server)
The V-Ray Render Node 3.0 section lists the number of total/engaged/free render node licenses. Clicking on any of the numbers will produce a list of machines which are currently using them. If there are no free licenses you would need to close Rhino on one of the machines listed machines (or alternatively, use V-Ray > Help > License > Release License).

If you have available render node licenses but the issue persists, please let us know by sending an email at support@chaosgroup.com so my colleagues can assist you further.
Additionally, be advised that the latest V-Ray for Rhino version is 3.40.03 (available at https://download.chaosgroup.com/?platform=51)
