  • Swarm not working

    I'm trying to get my three computers to network render using swarm.

    When I open the swarm settings window I can see the other two computers available, each on says enabled.

    I start a render. One of them says it's rendering, but actually does nothing. The other one says assigned but does nothing. Then the one that did say rendering now says unstable.

    Yikes! Network rendering used to be so bullet proof, what on earth has happened?!

    Do you have a node license for each of the computer?

      Yes, one full license and two render node licenses. At least, that's what I've paid for....

      Is there any way to check what's on the dongle?

        You can check the license count on the license server's status page - http://localhost:30304 in your internet browser on the computer with the dongle.

        Probably the license settings on the render nodes are not correct. The license setting of SWARM should point to the machine with the license server installed
        To do that - navigate to http://localhost:24267/configuration on the render node machine, disable SWARM from the slider in the upper right corner. Un-check "Use system license configuration" box and enter the IP address of the license server - IP_Address:30304
        Save the settings and enable SWARM from the slider.
        Also - TCP ports 30304, 20208 and 24267 and UDP port 24267 should be allowed for incoming and outgoing communication between the computers if you have firewalls enabled.

        More information about SWARM can be found here - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAYCH/V-Ray+Swarm

          Thanks for the help Ivan.

          Checked the licenses, all ok.

          I've now got the ip address correct over all machines and have disabled the firewall (need to do some more research into how to unblock specific ports).

          That's got two machines working now which is great, thanks. Just need to get this last machine joining in. I've noticed it doesn't show a vray version in the displayed info in the swarm config. Is this a tell-tale sign that something else is wrong?

            Normally the build is transferred (if it's not already present) from the render node machine prior to render start. You can try uploading the build manually and see if you'll get an error. From your workstation (the one with SketchUp on) navigate to http://IP_ADDRESS:24267/vray-versions - where "IP_ADDRESS" is the IP of the problem computer. Click on "UPLOAD V-RAY PACKAGE" button and upload "C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\V-Ray for Rhinoceros 6\vrayappsdk\appsdk-win-minimized-NeUI_2015-1.24.01-vray36004-20180314.7z"
            (if the render node is NOT Windows - use one of the other packages - for MAC or Linux)

                That would be a missing library/ies.
                Can you try installing :
                VC++ 2010 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/Down....aspx?id=14632
                VC++2017 - https://aka.ms/vs/15/release/vc_redist.x64.exe

                And try uploading the package again?

                    Hello,

                    I am using Vray with Rhino 7 on Windows 10 computer.
                    I have 3 render slaves, only windows 10 and V-Ray Swarm installed and they are all connected via a network.

                    I am facing the same problem with mcvltd. I tried every step which was discussed in here but still swarm is not working. Also, I do not have any warning or indication about swarm in the logs.
                    I tried to borrow render node licenses from the online license server. Still nothing. Can you success any think?
