  • Sendable 3D rendering?

    I have clients that would like to be able to take on of my renderings and be able to view it, rotate around, zoom in/out. I know this is available as an un-rendered Rhino model, but I dont know about a finished 3D rendering. I am using Rhino 5 and Vray 2. Please let me know if this is not available in my current versions and needs an upgrade. Thanks!

    Rendered images have no 3d information in them - they are just colorful pixels calculated by the render engine.

    You can on the other hand move the camera around in your Rhino scene and have V-Ray progressively render in the viewport.
    Every time you change a scene property or the view the process will start over.
    A noisy image will be displayed at first but in time it'll progressively get better till it reaches final quality.
    This rendering mode can be activated in V-Ray 3 by changing the Rhino viewport mode to V-Ray Interactive.

    Another option that you have is to transfer your Rhino scene to V-Ray for Unreal.
    This is done by exporting a .vrscene file of your project and then importing in in Unreal (V-Ray for Unreal needs to be installed).
    Your V-Ray scene will be loaded in the game engine and can then be modified in real-time.
    The Unreal viewport quality will not be as good as the rendered image but depending on your specific project it might be pretty close.

      An other option: at Vray 2 you can render a spherical panoramas. It's quite easy and I used it several times. Here you see the needed options.
      Best you render the pano at very high resolution like 10.000x5.000. The final pano can be direct shown per pano viewer like DevalVR or sView. Or you use a software like Pano2VR and create a HTML, Flash or MOV. Per Pano2VR you can link several panos to a tour. Looking around and zooming is possible.

      The advantage of panos are:
      * only light image (or swf, mov, html) needs to be transferred to the final user, not a 3D model
      * final user can use simple hardware
      * can be easy shown at webpages
      * you can deliver full Vray render quality

      At Vray3 you are able to render 3D panos also, it means an pair of stereo images is rendered.
