  • Rendering without alpha

Saving as .png a rendering from the VfB in a scene with a environment background image gives me an image with transparent background and the background is missing and replaced with transparency.
If I choose to enable the "save image" switch there's a 'image options' section where I can choose 'no alpha' but this option is not available when saving from the VfB.
The workaround is to open the image in Photoshop, Layer > Layer mask > from transparency and delete the newly created mask in the layer.
How can I avoid this and save directly the png without alpha from the VfB?

We don't have this option in the VFB for the moment, unfortunately. Will see if there is something that can be done about it.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Thanks Vlado. Perhaps a checkbox enabled by default could be included in the save file dialog that can be cleared if no alpha is to be saved.

Or a flag option at the frame buffer could be added? I think on rendering animations. How can be removed the alpha there at the moment? Or we get the alpha as render element like in the past and the user can disable it for animations.

          Hi Micha,

The old workflow that you've described is no longer supported by V-Ray.

When it comes to animation rendering you can do the following:
Navigate to RenderOutput/SaveImage/ImageOptions and select 'No Alpha' from the drop-down menu.
This way no alpha or transparency information will be saved with the image.
You also have the option 'Separate Alpha' which will save out a separate file with the Alpha.

          Regards,
          Konstantin
