  • GPU not shown

    Hi,

    I rendered a scene based on two 2080ti and one 1080ti (system card). I got a black screen crash and after the restart the two 2080ti are not shown at the list of the VfR assett editor anymore. But the V-Ray Benchmark shows all cards and works, also the Nvidia control panel shows all cards. The V-Ray GPU selection tool works also. The cards are only missing at VfR. Any ideas?

    Hi,

    Could you check that the environment variable is set correctly (VRAY_GPU_PLATFORMS)? Additionally, if you open the GPU Device Selection tool and set the devices, do they appear afterwards in the V-Ray Asset Editor?

    If the issue persist, please contact us at support@chaosgroup.com!

      The env variable shows:

      c++/cpu;nvidia cuda geforce rtx 2080 ti gpu index0;nvidia cuda geforce rtx 2080 ti gpu index1;nvidia cuda geforce gtx 1080 ti gpu index2;amd accelerated parallel processing amd ryzen threadripper 2950x 16-core processor cpu index0;

      No, the GPU device Selection tool doesn't help.

      (Also, an other little issue: the GPU device Selection tool entry at the Chaosgroup program menu isn't linked to the latest tool. Looks like the name changed by the last Hotfix. But I found the tool at the tool directory. The old link is to the ocldeviceselect.exe.)

      I think I will jump back to the previous version for now. I setup a new machine and I want to be sure that my crash problem isn't caused by the Hotfix.

        Also at the previous version the two 2080ti are not shown too.

        But I found the reason. It was my fault. By a mistake I set the at the Nvidia control panel the cuda GPUs to 1080ti only, but it should be the OpenGL GPU to the 1080ti fixed. Stupid mistake, sorry. Thank you for try to help me.

          If it occurs again, please reach out to the Support team, as georgi.georgiev already mentioned.

          Kind regards,

            OK, after a few black screen crashes I went back to the last nightly and it works stable again. Looks like the Hotfix is really to hot. Most I get the black screen crashes during the LC is running.

              I get system freezes without black screen per previous (nightly) too if I use this CPU setup. Maybe someone could test it at one of his scenes.

                I create a fresh scene and load the setup from the crash scene -> crash. Attached the little crash file. I hope the crash is repeatable.

                  I got the crash per VfR2 too - looks like the problem is my new computer.
