  • Toon outline as render element?

    Hi all,

I’m wondering if there is a way to separate the toon outline to a render element, another layer upon export or something similar?

    Many thanks in advance

    Cal

    Hello!

We've requested this new feature for V-Ray for Rhino [VAEC-169].

For now, this is available in 3dsMax and Maya.

To achieve the same effect in V-Ray for Rhino you could render the scene on a second pass using this workflow:

    1. Create an Emissive Material, turn its color to totally black.

    2. Assign this Emissive Material to a new Toon Material with white Outline color and Compensate EV checked.

    3. Use this Toon Material as an Override Material from the Render settings menu.
Click image for larger version Name:	2020-05-26_16-42-17.gif Views:	1 Size:	4.04 MB ID:	1072165

And render! Now you have this kind of layer.

Here is a test scene I prepared for you and a preview:

Click image for larger version Name:	default.png Views:	1 Size:	545.6 KB ID:	1072166< default materials

Click image for larger version Name:	material override.png Views:	1 Size:	154.5 KB ID:	1072167<material override

    Best regards,

    Tsvetomira

      Hello, Ausgabe!

V-Ray 5 for Rhino makes your wish come true - Toon render element is already available.
      It is called Contours.

Try it and give us feedback.

      Stay safe.

      Best regards,
      Tsvetomira
