  • Controlling VFB Programmatically

I'm looking to control several VFB settings such as color curves etc however it doesn't appear that V-Ray for Rhino 3.6 is capable of this? -help doesn't show any of the same similar controls that are listed in the Maya Mel version. Is this possible from Vray for Rhino 3.6? or is there a way to pass a vrscene and have the vfb use some particular settings?

      Hello, Travis,

I am afraid there is no similar access to the VFB controls in V-Ray for Rhino. The color correction controls in v3.6 cannot be accessed via scripting and are not serialized in the vrscene files.
In V-Ray Next CC settings are serialized but not in a human-readable format so that is of no use either unless you want to use preset values (in which case .vccglb files are the way to go)

Can you share more about what you wish to achieve? Do you have automation of CC application in mind?

        Hi Peter,

Thanks for the reply. The goal is to allow my render farms node controllers to apply various post processing to the vrscene files that they render without having to batch them after the fact in something like photoshop. Even passing a preset file would be fine provided that the preset is capable of setting any of the various VFB posting options and not just some of them. Something like -vfbChannels "C:\settings.vccglb" would be suitable for what I had in mind but probably to costly to upgrade the entire farm just for that functionality. Photoshop/After Effects is probably the cheaper alternative than upgrading 20+ nodes.
