  • Vision?

    Hi,

    I looked for a general Vision forum section and didn't found one. Is Vision only available for Rhino and SU at the moment?

    I thought about Vision and my dream for the future would be, that it could be like Enscape, but much better.

    The advantages of Enscape are:
    * it's super fast
    * nice GI
    * standalone export for the client
    * VR in stereo
    * large easy to use asset library

    The disadvantages are:
    * very limited materials
    * no planar reflections without problems (for example mirrors at an interior)
    * quality issues
    * weak Rhino integration
    * development doesn't solve basic issues (for example navigation through a VR at the PC without jumping like a frog)

    If Chaosgroup could combine a real time VR engine with the reach features and very good plugin integration of V-Ray than it could be a great deal.

    Adding an Asset library like known from Enscape could be great for Vision and standard V-Ray. Simple fast results and a wide range of assets are the secret of Enscape success, but the Achilles ferse are quality and features. Could be nice to see if Vision could do it.

    Hi Micha,

    Yes, Vision is currently only available for SketchUp/Rhino;
    Moreover, thanks for the input - duly noted. Most of these things are already on our to-do list and we'll let you know when there are any updates. That being said, please do share more details on what your needs are for VR presentations; first impressions of Vision so far would also be greatly appreciated.

      I opened a scene which was used for Enscape some months before. All materials are Rhino materials. The gloss finish slider of the custom material doesn't work, the materials are full glossy always. If I switch to type "metal" than the glossy slider works. Could be great if Rhino material would be fully supported, for example the IOR could work also, so that the user can switch from plastic to metal.

      Frosted Rhino glass doesn't work too.

      An other important aspect of real time VR is for me the quality of reflections. I expect to see the whole scene in mirrors and not only a fraction. I hoped Nvidia RTX allow to get this high quality. What will be possible in the near future?

        Navigation

        * collision detection could be nice, so that the user can't go through walls
        * a fixed camera height could be nice, for example I would like to keep the user at 155cm during navigating per mouse
        * a kind of teleportation per mouse could be useful, the user click on the ground somewhere at the scene and the camera fly to this point (by constant height)
        * miss to jump to defined views (Enscape feature)

        An other problem - the anti aliasing looks very weak, strong steps are visible on edges.
