  • Animation workflow / procedural questions

Hello, can someone tell me the correct procedure for rendering an animation sequence in V-ray for Rhino? Specifically:

Should this command be initiated in Rhino or within the V-ray interface?

Does "save image" need to be set in V-ray? If so, what format and options need to be selected?

If initiated in V-ray (after recording an animation previously with the Rhino Animation tool), the images do not seem to be saved after each render unless "save file" is selected in the asset editor. In this case the image files will be saved, but under the V-ray naming convention (ie; filename.effectsresult.0000) with additional files (ie; filename.denoiser.0000), etc.. No animation file is created, only the image files.

If initiated via Rhino with the "renderfull" option, the rendering will start, but again the image filenames will not match the Rhino animation because V-ray saves files with its own naming convention, including the render effects images separately.

What is the correct workflow to avoid these issues?

    Thanks!

    Hi KYD,

You would need to enable the Animation option from the Asset Editor if you wish to render with V-Ray; moreover, as you've already guessed, you would also need to set the output file path location from Render Output > Save Image.

No animation file is created, only the image files.
Once finished, you will get the sequence frames along with any additional Render Elements (used in post) which you will then be able to put together.

I might need some clarifications, do share what is the expected behavior if possible.
