When importing FBX files in Rhino and the maps folder is there I can render out the model without creating new materials. Is it better to create new materials from the maps and apply them again?

    Or just the FBX import.

    Greetings

If it looks fine for you than you can use the Rhino materials.

But if you need a more detailed control by V-Ray materials than the short way is the command _vrayMtlFromRhino.

        Hi carsten_teschner1,

All Rhino materials are by default rendered by V-Ray with most of their parameters respected.
As Micha pointed out, editing the material with V-Ray requires a type change.
If you're using Rhino 7 or later there is a dropdown menu in Rhino's properties panel that lets you change its type to V-Ray.
You can use it as an alternative to the command.
