  • Turning on Sky for a rendering

Newbie question. I have not had a need to do an exterior rendering till now. I want to turn on a colored sky that is controlled by the sun settings. I am not looking for a dome light with hdri, just gradation of colors for the sky. Btw, i have messed with the light generator but how is the sky turned on?

Under settings got to environment > background and pick sky instead of the default bitmap. In the sky menu make sure you are choosing the right sun as your light source.

There it is! Thanks. I have to set the intensity multiplier way down to .1 to get it to work. Is there anyway to see the sky in a preview mode other than interactive VRay?

The Sky texture preview presents its high intensity accurately.
Unfortunately, this means generally most pixel values of the texture exceeds 1 and thus appears mostly white in the preview.
We understand this diminishes the Sky preview's usefulness. The dev team will discuss a potential improvement internally.
Other than that, you have correctly guessed the alternative workflow using interactive rendering.

        Kind regards,
        Peter
