  • Cannot find detailed render control in the Settings tab of the V-Ray Asset Editor.

    Hi,

I am looking for the `Noise Limit` and other "fine-tuned" parameters in the V-Ray Asset Editor, as suggested in the doc here. But this is what I find in mine - it seems all the detailed parameters are missing:

Am I missing anything here? Did the UI get changed, or is there a secret button to turn on the "advanced UI"?

    I am using:
    VRay for Rhino 7 - 6.00.01 - Nov 3 2022
    V-Ray COre - 6.00.21
    V-Ray NeUI - 5.0.1
    V-Ray AppSDK - 4.00.00

    Windows 10, 64bit
    CPU Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6820HQ CPU @ 2.70GHz 2.70 GHz
    Quadrop M1000M, Driver 527.27

    Hello, yijiang_huang,
The right-side flyout panel of the V-Ray Asset Editor is accessed by pressing the sidebar arrow button (click anyone on the sidebar actually).

      Hi Peter.Chaushev,

Thank you very much for the answer! I hid that panel some day and completely forgot about it May I ask if it's possible to access these parameters in Vray in Grasshopper?

The entirety of the V-Ray settings are not available in the V-Ray Render Grasshopper (GH) component to keep it relatively simple (there are perhaps too many inputs already).
You can fine-tune the render settings of your GH project by using the V-Ray Render in Project component and transfer the scene data directly in Rhino without the need to bake it. This way you can use the V-Ray for Rhino Asset Editor to access the full set of render options.

Is there any specific setting you wish to have exposed directly in Grasshopper?
Can you share some info on the types of scenes you render and how the setting(s) in question may benefit you by having them directly in GH?

        Kind regards,
        Peter

          Hi Peter.Chaushev,

Thanks for your reply again! For now, I only want to have access to the Noise limit parameter in GH. I saw from the log that the renderer is spending way too much time after the "Noise threshold goal set: 0.001000", so I want to raise the limit for early termination. But in the future, I might need to access more "advanced" parameters like this.

I use GH + Rhino to render a lot of animations that involve parametric workflow on the geometries, which go beyond what V-ray allows for transferring from GH to the Rhino project. Thus, the solution you proposed might not work for my purpose. I understand that V-Ray in GH wants to keep the API clean and simple.

I have a suggestion: can we have one extra input for the core VRay Renderer component that takes in a JSON string or sth similar for advanced configurations? In this way, we just need to add one more input instead of 20 inputs, and users can specify whatever parameters they want.

          Best,
          YJ
