Is it possibile to bake textures in Vray for Rhino?
I found some tutorial for 3DSMax but nothing for Rhino.

    Thanks

    Hi corrado69,

Texture baking is not currently possible in V-Ray for Rhino.

Implementing a way to bake textures for a single object and UV set at one time is not hard to implement actually.
Do you think that the following workflow could be useful:
    • Ensure that an object has properly laid out UVs
    • Select the object
    • Initiate the baking process
Baking a batch of objects or the entire scene is going to be much more complicated.
You'll have to UV unwrap all objects in the batch and possibly name them before initiating the baking procedure.

Is the batch process not easy if the user ensure that an object has properly laid out UVs like he do it for a single object?

The old render Plugin AIR supported baking for Rhino. It doesn't care about the UV, the user need to provide the right UV. Interesting was that AIR provide two independent materials per object - the AIR material for rendering and the Rhino material for viewing the baked texture at the Rhino viewport. How could this be handled for V-Ray and Rhino?

It could be useful if this functionality could be implement for V-Ray and baking too. Best the user can switch which material is be shown at the viewport. And if the user export objects for example as OBJ than the current viewed material is be exported. So, for example, the user could export a 3D-PDF with baked textures. Could be very cool!!
