  • triplanar on meshsphere

    Hi there,

I stumbled on something, i do not understand and wanted to get some help.

So i testing triplanar on a spherical geometry, and getting issues with using on a mesh sphere.

    See rendering attached.

First is a regular nurbs sphere. (from left)
second is the same nurbs sphere converted to mesh.
    third is a meshsphere (triangles)
    fourth is a meshsphere (Uv)
    last is meshsphere quad.

All rendered with the same material(just grey with a triplanar normal map on)

Do you know where Mesh (triangle) and Mesh (Quad) doesn't get the triplanar normal map?

    Hello citro3101,

Tri-Planar mapping and also any texture mapping will work properly with V-Ray if you apply a Spherical mapping (from Rhino Properties > Texture Mapping) to the Mesh Sphere with Triangles and Quad Style.

    Kind regards,
    Iva

      Thank Iva,

The reason i wanted to apply triplanar on a "blob" not sphere, but yes it works If I create an UV map on them, just wondering why the other mesh types takes on triplanar without adding an UV.
