  • V-Ray not reading geometry correctly

    Hello,

I am having an issue with V-Ray where it is not reading all geometry correctly. Some things it picks up, but not others.

In the screenshot I highlighted different members to demonstrate the size and where they join. I circled in blue the joints that V-ray is reading correctly, and in red the ones that it is not.

Any idea how to fix this?

Hi natalia.gruzdova, after scratching my head for a while I figured it out and it wasn't either of those. Just for reference in case anyone else looks at this: I was using a Local Space Bump to soften the edges of my geometry, but it didn't work unless the poly surfaces it was applied to were closed. The edges were only showing in those that were closed properly.

      Hello sebastian_alarcon1,
      Thank you for the example.

What resolution are you rendering - is it the default 800x450? If yes, try setting higher resolution (e.g. 2k), does it help?

Also if you are using the default GI Brute Force + Light Cache setup try changing Secondary Rays to Brute Force as well, as it preserves all the details (e.g. small and sharp shadows) in the indirect lighting better.

Let me know if these suggestions help.
